Ancient Athenians said the source of inspiration comes from something larger than the individual self. They described a moment of Soul Exchange, one between something outside of us and ourselves, as aesthesis. It’s always accompanied by a gasp or a deep breathing in inspiration. This two night retreat nourishes the body and spirit with clean food, movement, nature, and meditation to clear away perceived barriers between your small self, and your more connected Higher Self, for a heartful weekend of joyful, restful, and playful, Soul Exchange. This yoga retreat is set on 27 acres in Knoxville, MD - just an hour’s drive from Washington.
The Retreat Includes:
Daily meditation and asana
Free time for nature, hiking, and swimming
Saturday camp fire (weather permitting)
Sound Healing with Angela Blueskies
Lodging with linens
Vegan, Gluten Free Meals
Friday (Additional Exchange of $50) - Teacher Development
What You Say Matters. This workshop is for yoga teachers and builds on the 2019 workshop Alchemizing and Galvanizing. We explore further techniques to introduce themes into your class and understand your most resonant messages to share them with genuine conviction. You do not need to have attended the 2019 workshop to attend What You Say Matters. This workshop begins 1pm Friday and includes light refreshments.
The Sixth Sense (Friday Evening)
The Kalahari Bushman live by this wisdom: “First, wake up as you get out of bed. Then awaken your heart: walk out of the bedrock of objects and materialism and into a spiritual world guided by the felt lines of relationship that hold everything together.” This dynamic practice makes porous the boundary between the material and spiritual worlds, opening us up to a unified reality in which all life is sacred.
Deepest Intention (Saturday Morning)
The conflation between goal and intention often mirrors the conflation between ego and higher self. While goals have purpose, they become their most fruitful and exciting when they are grounded in the universal qualities of love, truth, and awareness. This introspective practice brings clarity to your living aspiration through movement, meditation, and journaling.
Restorative Practice (Saturday Afternoon)
Gong Medicine with Angela Blueskies (Saturday Evening)
Of all the instruments used in sound healing, the Gong is perhaps the most powerful, and the most mysterious. Used in ancient Chinese palaces and temples, and also in the tradition of Kundalini Yoga, Gong Medicine Journeys, also called Gong Baths, are deeply nourishing and restorative. The parasympathetic nervous system is engaged and a deep energetic clearing occurs, leaving participants feeling balanced, peaceful, and light. Born in the gentle mountains of Appalachia, Angela Blueskies is a visionary musician, medicine woman, and facilitator who carries deep understanding of the healing powers of music and the Earth.
Caring for Each Other (Sunday Morning)
Our deepest longing is one for belonging. Our safety and purpose in this world flows from a feeling of inclusion and connectedness. Yet, statistics on loneliness are higher than ever and continues to rise. This practice is all about strengthening sangha, supporting each other, and opening our hearts to receive love and support.
